Twilight Fans: Ever read any of the Sookie Stackhouse books?

I just read Dead Until Dark (I got it for Christmas) and I couldn't believe how similar it was to the Twilight series. I swear, Stephanie Meyer must have read these books and said, "I have a great idea for a story, what I just read!" Seriously, the biggest difference in the characters is that Sookie Stackhouse (a human) can read everyones mind except for her vampire boyfriend, as opposed to the vampire character being able to read everyone else's mind but his human girlfriend. There is even another love triangle with a shape-shifter. If you have read both of these novels, what is your reaction?
