Are you always inclined to "debate the issue of God" or "discuss the issue of God"?

Is it impossible for you to do one or the other, if so why? Can you the "discuss the issue of God" without having it turn into a "debate of the issue of God"? Why or why not, what does it take? Is it possible for the "debate of the issue of God" to turn into a "discussion of the issue of God"? If so does that means that the debater who is now the one who is willing to discuss, is now converted, or has just given up? Please explain.
