MTF transitioning, need creative ways to help?
HRT is not expensive. My drug-plan co-pay is $15.00. A month of estrogen is $22.00. Spiro is also cheap. Aetna, Cigna, and GHI have transition-inclusive policies, but they are only offered through employers. The thing is, most of the top surgeons don't take insurance (yet.) The insurance companies don't reimburse them enough for the procedure. What I find to be the killer is electrolysis. I spend between $500-$600 a month on it. My advice is to start seriously thinking about a second job, or a way to create some pive income. Transition is mind-numbingly expensive.
